A Tribute to my Grandma

We all have people in our lives that we admire for various characteristics that they have been blessed with. I want to introduce you to a woman who defines strength for me. My Grandma has endured many things in her life from losing her first husband to the war on their first anniversary, fighting for her family in difficult circumstances and most recently enduring health conditions that have had her fighting for her life every day for the last two years.
Grandma is almost done fighting here on earth, but she has left a legacy of determination and joy in the midst of tribulation. Those of us who come behind her will for the rest of our lives remember her for the amazing person that she is. Many of us have had the unique privilege of being able to say goodbye to her before she leaves us to be united with her Savior, a time she is looking forward to. While it is SO hard to say goodbye, there is much comfort in knowing that she is going home. She's not going to miss us, but we will miss her terribly. I hope she's still well enough to enjoy looking through my memories, but if not I hope the rest of you will enjoy them.

Grandma and Grandpa with their eleven grandchildren. In case you can't tell, I'm the one with THE hair. :-)

I was so blessed to have all of my grandparents at my graduation from Cedarville. Thanks, Mom and Dad, for bringing them along.

Such a blessing in my life!

Introducing Grandma to Elizabeth, her FIRST great-granddaughter.

Elizabeth enjoying her reading time with Great-Grandma.

Introducing Ashlynn, now the 4th great-grandchild.

My memories of our time spent at their home on Silver Lake are some of my fondest memories. Whatever the latest water toy was, Grandma and Grandpa loved to have it to make sure their kids kept coming back. With so many cousins, so close in age they really didn't have to bribe us. We had a blast!

Bryan was great-grandchild #7 (I think:-) ) and like Elizabeth, was introduced to Grandma and Grandpa at the lake.

Each one of their great-grandchildren is a treasure for them and they are treasured by our kids as well.

Enjoying their calendar of the grandchildren that Shari works so hard on every year.

With Elizabeth 3 1/2 years ago.

At Bryan's first birthday, we were privileged to have all six of our grandparents attend. I feel so blessed to have each one of my kids know these very special people.

Grandma and Grandpa with the birthday boy.

15 of the great-grandkids. There will soon be 22!!!

Bryan is always ready for a cuddle with Great-Grandma!

Grandma, we know that when we get to heaven you'll be watching for us.
Thank you for living a life worthy of being followed.

WE LOVE YOU!!!

What a nice tribute, Brenda! You have communicated beautifully the hearts of so many of us! And those old cousin photos are a hoot, but such fun memories in them! It will be fun to see you soon. I'll be traveling alone, but will definitely be coming.

Love,
Kristin
